GREAT DANOODLE

History

The Great Danoodle is a result of crossing the Great Dane and the Poodle. Because it is a designer dog, not much information is available about its origin but they hail from Germany.

Temperament & Personality

Although these dogs have a modest and even disposition, they keep themselves composed and don’t readily accept people. They are quite intelligent and behave appropriately with children. Danedoodle loves its family and is always eager to please them. Excellent as watchdogs, it will alert its family when they sense any threat. It barks loudly but not constantly.

Care

Exercise

Working out daily is important for the health of Danedoodles. Walking and play sessions with the owner will be full of fun. Let it run without a leash in a fenced yard. Pay particular attention to the dog if it begins to gain weight.

Grooming

This low shedding dog has minimum grooming needs. Brush the coat twice or thrice every week. Bath it only with a dog shampoo whenever it gets dirty. Clip the long nails using the right tools and wipe the ears every week to avoid infections.

Health Problems

There are no reports of breed-specific diseases for the Danedoodle. But there are chances of inherited disorders like bloating, cancer, patellar luxation, Von Willebrand’s disease, Cushing’s disease, etc.

Training

The calm and docile Danedoodle is easy to train if the master uses positive methods. Treats and praises will keep the dog interested in the process. Teach it various tricks (like fetch) and socialization skills to help it mix with other animals and people. Separation anxiety is a possibility, let it stay alone for some time and then increase the duration according to the process.

Feeding

High-quality kibbles, having all the necessary nutrients, split into two or three meals will be sufficient for the Danedoodle. The amount will vary on the basis of the dog’s size, age, and metabolism.
