History

The Rat-cha is chihuahua terrier mix. They often resemble their Chihuahua parents and have a lively and kittenish personality. The Rat-cha comes in a combination of tricolor.

Interesting Facts

1. Rat-cha is one of the longest living dog breeds.

Temperament & Personality

Ratchis are always attentive and are curious to know about their surroundings. They are extremely attached to their owner and the family. The dog is incredibly active and playful making them a great playmate for kids. They have the typical Terrier personality which makes them wary of strangers. The Ratcha prefers to play and move according to its will and hates being forced to do something. They love to be the single dog in the house instead of sharing the space with another dog. Due to their preying mentality, the owner should never leave them alone with small animals.

Exercise

Being a highly active breed, it does not need a decent hour-long exercise routine. Instead, they will fulfill their exercise needs by constantly moving and running in the house. The Rat terrier and Chihuahua mix can adapt to small living space, provided it gets an open space to play and run. If deprived of proper physical activities, these dogs can develop destructive behaviors or chewing habits. They may also start digging if they get bored.

Grooming

This breed needs minimal grooming and maintenance. They shed low and brushing them once a week will complete their grooming requirements. However, their typical doggy smell can be a headache for the owner.

Health Problems

Some major health issues like Hip dysplasia, Hydrocephalus, and Patent Ductus Arteriosis(PDA) can affect the dog. Some minor concerns like the Cataracts, Glaucoma, Alopecia, and Progressive Retinal Atrophy may also be a problem.

Training

Small puppies get acquainted with specific touch and pat in their neck or the back area. So if they get any unfamiliar touch, they may get aggressive, and bite the person. The owner can begin with touching their other body parts like paws, mouth, nails, etc. from their early puppyhood. This training will help in the future when any child or a doctor touches the dog. Early socialization will prevent the dog from getting violent with other dogs too.

Feeding

High-Quality dog food is recommended and should be given on a daily basis.
