Temperament & Personality

Italian Doxies are lovely and devoted companions. These energetic dogs are quite fond of living in condominiums and apartments. They are jovial and kind to children as well as other dogs. They may become naughty and obstinate at times.

Care

Exercise

This dog does not calorie-burning intense physical activities, and a daily short walk or jog would suffice. As Doxies have the propensity of playing and loitering indoors, taking part in their games and exercises would make these dogs happy.

Grooming

Brush the Doxies short coat at least twice weekly to keep them clean and tidy. These dogs require minimal maintenance and always use a medium-hard bristle brush. Bathe them whenever the need arises, but do not drench them unnecessarily, or else it will reduce their water-resistance capabilities.

Health Problems

There is no documentation available regarding the health issues of Doxies. They are considered a healthy breed, however, watch out for general and hereditary diseases.

Training

Maintain consistency in training all those Doxies who are stubborn. Engage with them throughout the day using playing and exercising. Keep the pedagogy exciting and enjoyable so that they do not feel compelled. Moreover, make sure that Doxie puppies are note being penalized regularly or for negligible mistakes, or else it will make them nervous and could even interfere with their mental development.
