History

The Pinny-Poo is the cross between the Miniature pinscher and the Poodle. They have an elongated face with a dark muzzle and two beadlike eyes. Their elongated ears go down till the cheek areas.

These dogs love to play with leaves.
Pinnys might get cold during winters, so sweaters are an excellent option to keep them warm.

Temperament & Personality

Considering their easy-going, and affectionate nature, these dogs are good options for the apartments. They are highly energetic and are active throughout the day. They bark often and can become wary if they see a stranger around. Supervision is needed whenever they are with small children. Moreover, this breed is known to be combative around other pets and there are instances where Pinny-Poos share a special bond with the house cats.

These dogs can be a great companion dog for the singles and the elderlies. They are protective of the family and will go to any extent to secure the members.

Exercise

The Pinny-Poo loves things like long distance run, high jump, digging the ground, etc. This dog loves staying unleashed so that it can run freely in the yard area. They burn most of their calories as they are an active breed. A short walk once in a week will keep their bones and muscles healthy.

Grooming

If the Pinny has a long coat, then brushing the fur is advised once in a week. It will shed off excess hair and will help the dog stay clean and matt-free. The owner should keep an eye on any ear infection as these kinds of floppy ear dogs are prone to different kind of ear problems.

Health Problems

The breed is prone to issues like Patellar luxation, Addison’s disease, Mitral valve dysplasia, and Color dilution alopecia. Occasional diagnosis of Cataracts and skin allergies will keep their eyes and coat healthy. Occasional tests such as Skin evaluation, Internal examinations such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI’s frequently will also aid to keep them healthy.

Training

Training Pinny-poos is quite a tough task as they are stubborn by nature. Obedience and etiquette training is a must for this breed from their puppy stage. Socialization from an early age will help to ignore any behavioral issues in the future.

Feeding

Vets advise using both wet and dry foods for this breed and the quality of the food should not be compromised. The quantity should be the same as given to any other dog of this size.
