History

The Whoodle is a cross between the Standard Poodle and the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. There is no detailed record of this breed’s history and origin. These dogs come in a wide variety of appearances, with some resembling their Standard Poodle parents, while others resemble the Soft Terrier. They have muscular shoulders with thick hind legs and a dense coat. You can choose from a Miniature Whoodle or a Mini Whoodle, which are smaller variants of this dog, or the standard Whoodles.

Temperament & Personality

Whoodle dogs have an extremely high level of energy and can be a bit dominant, which can be challenging for the owner at times. Whoodle puppies are playful and fun-loving, especially with small children. Because of their non-aggressive nature, both the child and the dog will share good vibes between them. Like any other medium-sized breed, these dogs are not prone to frequent barking or growling.

They can be great companion dogs but also exhibit the negative trait of having an independent streak, especially if they lean more toward their Poodle parents. The owner will easily fall in love with these small wonders but should also remember that the Whoodle is a peculiar breed.

Care

Exercise

The Mini Whoodle is not an extremely active breed, so they will not need a massive amount of activity. These dogs do require a short run or a small walk on a daily basis. They will greatly appreciate if their owner takes them out for a play session once in a while. A game of Frisbee or a game of flyball will also be an excellent option. If deprived of regular activities, these dogs can become destructive, and in extreme cases, even dangerous for the entire family. After all, one should always remember the fact that they are also beings with various kinds of emotional levels. Their funny name often prompts pet lovers to ask, "What is a Whoodle?"

Grooming

The luscious and shimmering coat of the Whoodle dog will need a daily brushing session by the owner. Their great grooming is the result of inheriting genes from both of their parents. Vet-approved grooming items like a pin brush, nail clipper, and a regular clipper will make the entire grooming process much more hassle-free for the groomer.

Health Problems

This breed can suffer from Sebaceous Adenitis, Kidney Problems, Addison's disease, Elbow dysplasia, and Cataracts.

Training

Basic training like leash training, obedience training, and crate training taught during their puppyhood will shape a well-behaved dog in the future. Any kind of training, if complemented with food rewards and frequent praises, will accelerate the entire training process.

Feeding

Any diet plan should be fixed after prior advice from a Vet doctor to provide the dog with all-around nourishment. The owner needs to keep in mind that these dogs will need high-quality dog food instead of some unbranded food that can affect the dog’s health.

We are considering getting a whoodle. Is this article about the standard whoodle or a mini whoodle, or both? paraphrased These dogs have an extreme level of energy, can be dominant. Mini whoodles is not an extremely active breeed so dont need a massive amount of activity (need daily run or walk). Can be destructive or even dangerous if not given sufficient activities?
