History

Little known about its history, a new dog breed named Akita Chow was developed by crossing Chinese dog ‘Chow Chow’ and Japanese dog ‘Akita’. They are large-sized and have an outward aspect of both the parents.

Temperament and Personality

Due to its inheritance, the Akita Chow Mix is stubborn and independent with its features of being intelligent, possessive and loyal. Their protective nature is well-evident from their dominant appearance. If not trained well, they can be aggressive with strangers but are mostly very friendly with kids and family members.

Care

Exercise

Due to their independent mindset, the breed needs to exercise on a regular basis which should include a leash walk or a long run. They are comfortable when playing in a fenced area that keeps them happier.

Grooming

Brushing of coats with a slicker brush or undercoat rake twice or thrice in a week can keep them healthy and clean.

Health Problems

The breed does not have any specific health problems, but keep in mind that it can have the issues similar to other large dog breeds.

Training

Just like an Akita puppy, Akita Chow puppies are not easy to train because of their positive nature. The best way to prepare them is by giving rewards. Teaching them to socialize is very essential, but it should also be followed in a procedure. Firstly, introduce it to a small group of people and them with a larger one. Prepare them to be friendly with other animals as well, if not, let them stay indoors or in a fenced area. It is essential to teach the dog to be obedient and know who the boss is.

Feeding

As Akita Chow is an active and significant dog, it needs food rich in nutrition resembling its parents.
