History

Bea Griffon is a cross between Beagle and Brussels Griffon. Since this is a crossbreed, we don’t know much about its history. They are available in various colors making them look an interesting breed. It is a working dog but not considered as a fierce guard dog. With respect to companionship, personality, and health, they are great as pets. Their eyes appear to resemble the shape of almond followed by a dark nose to its bottom. Their build is athletic and the dog gives out eloquent expressions.

Temperament & Personality

The dog always seeks attention and loves when surrounded by people. It is a great companion dog and behaves well with other pets and kids. This breed is well behaved, intelligent and very playful. With a pleasant character, these dogs are well-behaved and high on enthusiasm. Also, it is an intelligent dog that contributes vastly to make it a loving pet. Highly adaptable in nature, these creatures can adjust to virtually any place or the environment. The breed has a tendency to chew things and jump around the place.

Bea Griffons love playing energetic games such as retrieving or fetching while their affectionate nature is among the most outstanding characters. This also makes them a caring, loving and extremely loyal companion. Many believe, it is the level of friendliness that comes in between from making it a good watch dog or a guard dog. The dog can get familiar with strangers pretty quickly and even are great when you have kids at your place. As its parent breeds are good as family pets, Bea Griffon inherits the same. Lastly, they are good for almost any climate and their athletic build makes them good both indoors and outdoors.

Exercise

This crossbreed needs a moderate amount of activities to stay happy and healthy. The dogs size makes it is an excellent fit for apartment life. Even indoor games take care of their daily exercise needs. A walk and a visit to the dog parks on a daily basis will maintain the dog’s mood. However, it can jump very high and chase other animals, so the playing area must be fenced and the dog should be leashed.

Grooming

Consider the hypoallergenic effects of buying the dog. Depending on its coat, it sheds moderately. Hence brush their skin daily or every other day. Bathe it only when it is dirty to avoid the loss of natural oils in the skin. Ears and eyes should be checked and cleaned once a week. Smooth coated Bea Griffons will have seasonal shedding, the rough-coated ones will not, but they need to be taken to a groomer for clipping and stripping. Brush the teeth once or twice a week.

Health Problems

Hereditary problems include intervertebral disk disease, eye problems, epilepsy, hypothyroidism, patellar luxation, hip dysplasia and skin allergies. The owner must check the health clearances of the dog’s parents to know the possible health issues.

Training

Some trainers find it easy while some find it hard to train this dog. It is responsive and learns quickly with the right training methods. Refrain from scolding and punishments as it can have adverse effects. The owner must be patient and firm, praise it and offer snacks as treats. Teach the puppies both socialization and obedience training from the early days.

Feeding

Giving the Bea Griffon ¾ to 1½ cups of high-quality dog food split into two meals daily is sufficient. The amount of food the dog eats depends on its size, age, and metabolism.
