History

The Chigi originated in the US by crossing the Pembroke Welsh Corgi and the Chihuahua. Being of a designer breed, a little is mentioned about its past but rest details can be given through its inheritance.

Temperament and Personality

Corgi chihuahua mix is an affectionate, loving and loyal dog that develops a strong bond with the owners. It has the herding instinct of Chorgi and cuteness of Chihuahua which makes it a perfect family dog. Their compatibility with children as well as with strangers is excellent making it more socialized, but careful supervision should be there when it comes to children. They are even comfortable with other dogs and pets and stay quiet usually with minimum barking when they see any stranger entering their territory. However, they will alert the family members if they sense danger.

Exercise

The breed is an active one, so it requires a moderate amount of activity. Just a good couple of walks a day will keep them fit physically and mentally. They are even suitable for an apartment life if they get enough space to play and run. As it inherits the quality of hunting, take them to dog parks or for leash walks to fulfill their demands.

Grooming

Due to an average amount of shedding, it requires low maintenance and grooming. The grooming session includes brushing of hair once or twice a week, wiping with a damp cloth on regular intervals, cleaning of its teeth with dog toothpaste, clipping of its nails if they grow too long and checking its ears to avoid any infection.

Health Problems

Since it is a healthy crossbreed, it does not have any specific health issues but can have genetic health concerns like ear, skin and dental problems, dysplasia and allergies.

Training

Its eager to please quality attitude adds a plus point for the trainer to teach them with less effort and time. They are even smart and intelligent so require less repetitive sessions than other dogs. Otherwise, it is a perfect dog with little training and socializing requirements.

Feeding

Serve the dog with ¾ to 1½ cups of high-quality dry dog food according to its size and energy level. They need a properly balanced diet with full of nutrition like other dog breeds.
