History
Lined with Egyptian breed of dogs known as Saluki, Chippiparai is an Indian breed dog. Saluki was brought through the sea route to South India and was mated with the local dogs to create Chippiparai. The physical similarity with Saluki also proves this theory.
Temperament & Behavior
Chippiparai's temperament is same as the other Indian sighthounds. It is entirely peaceful and calm. It develops a strong bond with its family members. The dog tends to become a one-person dog if raised by a single person. The breed is quite reserved with its affection, although it is very loyal and devoted. The breed behaves very well with the children. For strangers, they are very suspicious and react very nervously.
