History

The Chussel dog is a hybrid of the Brussels Griffon and the Chihuahua. The details about the dog’s origin are unknown, although it is said that it was first bred in the early 21st century.

Temperament & Personality

The Chussel is an energetic, smart and playful dog which often gets dictatorial. It loves to please its family and proves to be a good companion dog. It grows closer to any one individual in the family and establishes a special bond with them. The dominating attitude is a challenge for owners as the animal seldom becomes difficult to control. It acts reservedly around unknown people and becomes protective and territorial.

Care

Exercise

It is an active breed of dog, so jogging twice a day will keep it fit and happy. If the dog is large, take them to a dog park and remove the leash so that they can enjoy. Having a yard will be an advantage, though it is not necessary. Indoor games and workouts will fulfill its mental and physical requirements. Most importantly, the dog can adjust well to apartment life.

Grooming

For owners looking for a dog with low grooming needs should consider the Chussel. Brushing its skin twice or thrice a week will be okay. Bathe the Chussel only when it gets dirty to protect the natural oils of the skin. Check and clean its ears and eyes every week to prevent infection. Also, clip the nails using the right tools or consult a professional groomer.

Health Problems

Chussels have a sensitive stomach and improper food can cause diarrhea. Health issues it obtains from its parents are hypoglycemia, patellar luxation, heart diseases, eye problems, collapsed trachea, etc.

Training

The dog’s stubbornness is the primary concern while it’s training. Due to this attitude, it can acquire destructive behavior. Only a consistent and firm trainer can guide it appropriately. Although it is intelligent, negative methods can harm the Chussel’s development. Fend off the animal's aggression by acting composed in front of other dogs, and soon it will learn their master. To curb its over-excitement, many people advise aromatherapy. Because dogs sense everything using their nose, certain aromas can be useful in calming them. Visit your vet to know better about this matter. Visit a school or seek professional help if there are any problems. Teach the dog socialization skills as they will increase its confidence.

Feeding

Feed the dog high-quality dog food to meet its energy requirements. Chicken, beef, salmon, etc. will give it adequate proteins. Keep the amount of food in mind as its stomach can quickly react and cause health problems.
