History

A hybrid of the Poodle and the English Foxhound, the Foxhoodle is popular for its warm and friendly personality. The Dog Registry of America (DRA) recognizes this breed although there is no proper documentation about its origin.

Temperament & Personality

These social and gentle dogs love human company. It is happy in the presence of other pets also, provided that the dog is raised with them. As watchdogs, they bark loudly at strangers to alert their master. It blends well with children, but the little ones require supervision so that they don’t hurt the dog. Ensure that they don’t get bored as this can have adverse effects on their behavior.

Exercise

Exercising on a regular basis is crucial for this breed to keep itself in shape. Visit dog parks or a fenced area to let it run without a leash for some time. Take part in its activities and enjoy play sessions with it. Providing both mental and physical stimulation is necessary.

Grooming

Maintaining the dog’s hygiene is very important. If the coat is long, it will need professional grooming. Bathe it only when necessary, using a dog shampoo. Wipe its ears and eyes to prevent infection.

Health Problems

Even though there are no reported significant health issues of this breed, there is always a possibility of inherited disorders. Ask for the parent’s health clearances from the breeder before buying the dog.

Training

The dogs are quite smart, which is why training them is not tough. Take the dog to places it will find interesting. Keep lots of toys at home so that it does not get bored and remains engaged in an activity. Teach it some tricks so that it can amuse people, this will help it blend with them. Also, train them for obedience and socialization.
