History
The Frengle Hound is a hybrid of the Beagle and the French Bulldog. The aim behind crossing these two purebreds was to make a good companion dog. The idea was a success and has become very popular in the West. Their history is not well-known, but they are recognized by many prestigious organizations.
Temperament & Personality
These affectionate dogs mingle well with everybody. What makes them rare is that Frengles are a little stubborn but are willing to please their owners and other animals when necessary. Supervision is essential while exposing this dog to kids. It is not aggressive around strangers and will get comfortable with them after meeting them more. All these features make it evident that they are not good as guard dogs. But they are excellent as watchdogs thanks to their alertness, attentiveness, and instincts at barking when they sense a threat. These animals are not lazy and are always up to something.
Exercise
Since this a relatively healthy breed, daily exercises are vital to keep them fit. Its small size makes it appropriate for apartment life; just ensure that it gets at least thirty minutes of activities. They enjoy jogging, play sessions and visiting dog parks where it can run off leash. For mental stimulation, allow the Frengle to play with toys.
Grooming
Since it is an average shredder, brush it two times every week and bathe the dog only when it gets dirty. Brushing its teeth 2-3 times and cleaning the eyes and ears every week will be essential. Either use the right tools or visit a groomer to cut its nails.
Health Problems
Inherited complications include hypothyroidism, epilepsy, eye problems, patellar luxation, hip dysplasia, allergies and ear infections. Look for the parent’s health clearances before buying the dog from the breeder.
Training
It takes time to train the Frengle properly because of stubbornness. Owners with ample experience should be able to guide. Use positive methods like treats and praises. Keep motivating it in case it fails in some tasks. Avoid scolding them as it can develop destructive behavior. If there are any problems while training, consult an expert or go to a dog school. Teach it basic obedience and socialization skills to help it blend well with others.
Feeding
Always choose high-quality dog food which has all the vital nutrients for your Frengle puppy. Take special care of its diet during its growing phase. The amount of food will depend on the dog’s age, size, and metabolism.
