The Golden Mountain Dog (GMS), adept in hunting and tracking, is a cross between the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Golden Retriever. It has official recognition from many reputed organizations, but its origin remains unknown.

Temperament & Personality
The GMS, with an affectionate and pleasant attitude, is an excellent family dog. It likes to gather everyone's attention and blends nicely with people. This dog enjoys taking part in household activities and staying close to its family members. With proper socialization, it behaves appropriately in front of children and other animals. It tries to mingle well with strangers but can't be trusted as a guard dog.
Care
Exercise
Moderate activities are necessary to keep the GMD in good shape. A couple of walks and some play sessions will be enough for the dog. You can also take it for a hike or a run. Access to a medium-sized yard with proper fencing will be beneficial.
Grooming
This average shedder needs regular brushing and vacuuming to maintain its coat. The bristles of the brush should be firm, as it will help in removing the dead hairs. Check and clean its ears to avoid infection. Brush the teeth every day to keep them strong and healthy. Give the GMS a bath only when it's needed.
Health Problems
Major health issues include cancer, bloat, epilepsy, and heart problems. Joint dysplasia, OCD, eye issues, hypothyroidism, and allergies are common in this breed.
Training
The GMS will train quickly as it is an obedient and intelligent dog. Train it for obedience and socialization at an early age to make it well-behaved. They are good at activities related to sniffing, so make it a part of their training. The owner should act as the pack leader and use only positive techniques.
Feeding
The protein content in its diet should be around 20-25%, while that of fat should be less than 15%. A balanced diet includes fresh food items like yogurt, apples, broccoli, etc. Dry dog food should be given 2-4 cups every day, split into two meals.
