History

The Jack-A-Bee is a designer breed which is the cross-section between the Beagle and the Jack Russell Terrier. Since it is a new breed, not much is known about its origin, but its parents can identify its characteristics.

Temperament and Personality

The loving, friendly and faithful nature of the dog makes it attention seeker who loves to spend time with its family. It is compatible as a playmate with small children and other pets as well. However, it might show shyness and anxiety around visitors, but this can be resolved through early socialization. Sometimes they might be aggressive, especially if they are scared. Due to its alert and active behavior, it can become a great guard dog who makes sure its owner knows if they see an intruder. They also tend to sniff a lot and even follows the scent to its source.

Care

Exercise

Jackabee puppies are active and playful one, so it should be adequately exercised to avoid destruction. They require a lot of vigorous amount of activity to channelize their energy. Take them for long leash brisk walks or a jog every day. It also needs enough space like a fenced yard to play or jump freely.

Grooming

Minimal grooming session is necessary for this breed; just a regular brushing can do away with rough and dead hair. Also bathe them occasionally to maintain its shine and hygiene or opt for professional help if necessary. Other than these, trim its nails monthly and check and wipe clean its ears in case of any infection.

Health Problems

Like other crossbreeds, this breed is also a healthy breed with no health issues. But it might suffer from problems like skin allergies, itchy skin, nasal allergies and watery eyes.

Training

It is a very intelligent dog that is capable of learning commands and new techniques quickly. Although, its independent and stubborn nature may make teaching difficult. It requires firm and consistent trainer with positive reinforcement methods. Also, teach them to be obedient and who the pack leader is.

Feeding

Serve them with 1 to 2½ cups of high-quality dry kibbles with no preservatives. Also give them occasional treats of baby carrots, tuna, salmon, and sweet potato chew. Take care of the number of calories and nutrition to be provided every day.
