History
Lancashire Heeler is a small sized dog an it is believed to be the descendants of the Manchester Terrier. It has a short leg as compared to the body which gives it an unbalanced appearance. This dog has a set of erect and full ears, well muscled, stiff back and high set tail. It was highly used as a farm dog as it can control cattle efficiently. This breed is also an efficient ratter and was developed to help to clear the farm from insects which harm the crop. Apart from being a farm dog, it is also a companion dog.
Temperament & Personality
Lancashire Heeler is a courageous, loyal and brave dog with a cheerful attitude. They can be stubborn and mischievous if training sessions are not provided timely. They are vigilant to strangers but very friendly with children. To ensure the safety of the dog and children, interactions with infants need supervision. They possess right terrier instincts independent i.e. lively and insightful. This dog barks at strangers or other pets if threatened inside its territory.
