History
There is limited information about the beagle's origin, they were popular in the 13th century due to their tiny size and used by hunters. It has got recognition as a separate breed from the beagles but as a different size variation. The mini dog got its name as the hunters used to carry them in their backpacks. Though they were replaced soon by the bigger Beagles, we know today as the earlier ones were not fast enough.
Temperament & Personality
Pocket beagle is a friendly, gentle breed that goes well with everybody and does not make an ideal watchdog. Due to its hunting instincts, it needs supervision when left alone near any small non-canine pets. They prefer to spend much time with its family and hence enough attention is needed by the master so that the dog doesn’t feel isolated. They move recklessly and will require supervision if left outside by themselves. To reduce a chance of separation anxiety, adopt two puppies together.
Exercise
Pocket Beagle puppies or full grown dogs possess great stamina and require plenty of activities daily. Long walks, a fenced yard, and puzzle games will be enough to fulfill its requirements. Always use a leash or dog strap as it can disappear in search of wild game. Exercising every day is crucial to avoid them from becoming destructive and vocal if excess energy is not properly vented. Adult dogs can become lethargic and will require encouragement to maintain its physical health.
Grooming
Beagle’s medium length coat is relatively easy to maintain, brushing once a week will loosen the dead hairs and encourage hair growth. They are medium shedders and shed their winter thick coat in spring. They have drooping ears which trap debris and moisture efficiently. As a result, it requires regular maintenance to prevent ear infections. Additionally, their nails will need a trim when they overgrow, and bathing is necessary when they are incredibly filthy.
Health Problems
Mini or teacup puppies is a healthy breed, but as it is purebred, it is prone to acquire some diseases from its ancestors. Major health problems suffered by Beagles are:

Training
Miniature beagles are sometimes loud and can get lost anywhere easily because of their hunting instincts. Though with proper training and socialization their aptitude can become manageable. They are intelligent and require few repetitions to learn the tricks and commands. Positive training sessions like snacks treat, hugs and praises is a smart way to make the dog learn quickly.
Feeding
Dry Dog food 1 – 1.5 cups will meet the nutrition level of the toy dog. Though, every dog’s nutrition requirement is different depending on their size, age, and activity they do. Puppies require more nutrient than an adult dog as they increase and active dogs will consume more food than a couch dog.High-quality dog food free of unnecessary additives like com and grain, high in meat proteins and vitamins will provide the healthy coat, skin, mental and physical stamina. Beagles love eating and might become obese, therefore dividing consumption into few meals is advisable.
