History

The Pomeagle is a cross between the Beagle and the Pomeranian. This is a small and cute dog which can carry a silky fur from its Pomerian parent or a soft and smooth coat from its Beagle parent. They can inherit their physical characteristics from both the parents or may incline towards one single parent.

Temperament & Personality

The Pomeagle is the perfect companion toy dog, and they possess the typicalities of a complete apartment dog. A prolonged period of separation from the owner will change into anxiety, and frequent barking as these dogs are emotionally attached to their owner. The Pomeranian side of the dog will make it a good watchdog.

Supervision of the parents is required whenever these dogs are with children. Some of the dogs may inherit chasing and hunting abilities from the Beagle’s side. They are extremely curious and wants to investigate any new thing.

Exercise

These Pomeagles need daily activities to maintain a healthy body. Take the dog for a short walk or arrange a play session for it every two days. If the dog coughs while doing exercises, the owner should immediately consult the Vet for any medical advice.

Grooming

Brushing the coat regularly using a firm bristle will ensure that the dog remains clean and matt-free. Bathing, when they get dirty and smelly will ensure that the house stays clean and hygienic. If the dog inherits Pomeranian fluffy ears, then regular cleaning is needed to ensure that its ear does not get any infection.

Health Problems

The breed does not suffer from breeding related health issues, but they may get some form health issue from either of their parents. Major health issues are Patellar Luxation, Hip dysplasia, Epilepsy, Hypothyroidism, and Invertebral Disc Disease. Minor health issues are ear and eye infections. Occasional tests are CT scan, Blood electrolytes, Spinal tap, Myringotomy, Full Chemistry panel tests, Skin scrapping, and Blood glucose level testing.

Training

These easy to train dogs require a firm and consistent training. The trainer should train Pomeagle pups to mingle well with big size dogs, and not to be aggressive to the big ones. Trainers can opt for Positive reinforcement techniques instead of being rude to these dogs.

Feeding

Pomeagles need the right amount of dry kibbles on a daily basis. They also need a proper amount of fibre and carbohydrates in their diet.
