History

The Pugshire is a cross between a tiny Pug dog and Yorkie (Yorkshire terrier). Since both the parents are toy dogs, it is a small dog with perky nature. They also have a cute appearance with a little face, dark eyes, and floppy ears. They are known for their dedicated disposition, they fit comfortably in a family and make a great companion.

Temperament & Personality

Pug mix dog are social and enjoys spending quality time with its family. They create a deep bond with their owner and also seek attention from its family members. Pug x terrier goes well with children and becomes a great playmate for them, but supervision is needed while they interact as kids can end up hurting the pug. This breed becomes intolerant if the owner gives particular attention to another pet or kid in the family, a trait inherited from its parent. These dogs are highly energetic, but still, they like taking long naps. They make an ideal watchdog as they are very suspicious and starts yapping to inform the owner if they see any stranger in the territory. They love to get cuddled and display their affection by licking.

Exercise

The dog loves to go outdoors and indulge in activities like run, jump, and play. Though it is not very energetic, small walks or jogs for half an hour will be adequate for the dog. Sufficient playtime indoors or outdoors will keep the dog energized. An inappropriate exercise routine can make the dog develop odd behaviors and excessive barking. During bad weathers, puzzle toys are favored as these will keep them occupied.

Grooming

Brushing its coat with a pin brush or stiff brush twice a week is ideal to remove the dirt and dead hairs. Bathing is not necessary unless they are incredibly filthy, mild dog shampoo or natural shampoo is acceptable. Unnecessary baths can dry out their skin and irritate. Ears require being checked every week to avoid painful ear infection. Nails will require clipping when they overgrow and Tooth needs brushing twice a week to keep up with the oral health and prevent tartar collection, tooth decay.

Training

Training a Pug cross Yorkie is not easy and requires a firm trainer, as they inherit stubbornness from its parents. Positive training methods are ideal for training this dog. Obedience and socializing training are essential for this dog breed. It will help the dog to overcome its adamant behavior and jealousy.
