Exercise

A Springerdoodle will require a moderate amount of activity which can include short walks or jog with an ample playtime in a yard. They also love to play indoors with toys or with their owners for extra activity. It will not only keep them active but will also allow them to apply their mind. Additionally, puzzle games will also help the dog to get mental stimulation. They do not require significant yards to utilize their energy so simple outdoor activities like playing and running will make the dog happy.

Grooming

It will need low maintenance as compared to other breeds with a heavy coat. It is a minimum shedder and its soft coat requires frequent brushing. Cleaning its coat with a bristled brush will keep the coat shine and remove dead hairs. The dog gets overheated in the summer season due to its heavy coat, so the owner can trim their fur short to keep them fresh. However, the hair should be allowed to grow in the winter season. Otherwise, they can suffer from cold.

Bathe them with a mild dog shampoo only when they are filthy. The owner can take professional help for efficient cleaning and trim. Its droopy ears retain moisture and wax which require cleaning every week to prevent painful ear infection. Teeth brushing every twice or thrice will avert tartar collection and tooth decay. Nails will need clipping when they overgrow.

Health Problems

Like other crossbreeds, it also inherits few health problems from its parents. However, every dog is an individual, and it might or might not suffer from these issues, as long-term health is not possible to predict.

Major Problems:

• Hip dysplasia
• Hypothyroidism
• Skin problems
• Eye conditions
• Epilepsy
• Patellar Luxation
• Ear infections

Minor Problems:

• Cushing’s disease
• Addison’s disease
• Bloating
• Legg-Calve-Perthes disease
• PFK deficiency
• Von Willebrand’s disease

However, with random veterinarian checkups and occasional tests the dog will stay healthy.

Training

Springerdoodle is easy to train as they are smart and intelligent. They learn quickly and require less repetition of tricks and instructions. The trainer can see immediate results while training this dog, though a consistent and firm trainer is crucial to train this dog. Early socialization and obedience training will not only make the dog behave correctly, but it will also make the dog learn the basic manners which are essential for a family pet.

Feeding

A homemade diet with ample of proteins, fat, carbohydrate, and micronutrients are essential for this dog. Two or three cups of dry dog food will be adequate for an adult dog. Dividing the meals into two halves will keep its digestion in order.
