History

The Yorkie Ton, very much like the Yorkie Bichon and the Yorkie Russell is a designer dog that is obtained by crossing Coton de Tulear and the Yorkshire terrier. This specific canine crossbreed is small in size, if not tiny and its distinctive physical features comprise of stumpy legs, a bulbous nose, a rounded muzzle and searching eyes. Yorkie Tons make for great pet dogs, especially in homes where space is at a premium.

Temperament and Personality

The Yorkie Ton, if nursed appropriately, can be a great pet dog as it prefers to spend time in the company of human beings and hates to be left alone. It can throw tantrums or tricks to draw the attention of everybody around. They have a mild disposition and are usually not belligerent towards other dogs.

Due to their playful nature, they bond perfectly with youngsters but have to be treated with respect. Behaving roughly with them like kicking them or shouting at them may make them unsocial and fearful.

Care

Exercise

Since the dog is sprightly and energetic by nature, it is not necessary to take them through a rigorous workout regimen. They can be taken during a person’s routine walks in the morning or evening.

Grooming

As the Yorkie Ton doesn’t shed too many hairs, trimming frequently is necessary. Brushing of hair 2-3 times a week is recommended to avoid mat fur.

Health Problems

Yorkie ton does not have any genetic health issues, but the owner must take care of some problems. It may include collapsed trachea, progressive retinal atrophy, hip dysplasia, luxating patella and hypoglycemia.

Training

Training should not be much trouble as the breed tends to be loyal, obedient and officious. They can be taught simple tricks like squatting and groveling on the floor or rolling with the body turned upside down. They make for a good watchdog as it tends to bark or yelp aggressively whenever it spies a stranger trying to trespass its territory.

Feeding

Feeding a nutritious diet at proper mealtimes is crucial if you want her to live healthily throughout her lifetime. Offer her ½-1 cup of dry food (dog food that is) at least once in a day.
