You’d assume that sporting dog breeds would outshine other dog breeds when it comes to hunting or competing in dog sports. However the parameters or yardsticks used for classifying sporting dogs are varied and diverse implying that several breeds fit the bill. The AKC (American Kennel Club) presently considers more than 190 breeds as sporting dogs classified into distinct subcategories such as working, non-sporting, toy, herding, terrier, and hound dogs.
