Mauzer

History

Mauzer is developed from a cross between the Maltese and the Miniature Schnauzer. It is a small dog that weighs no more than 20 pounds. They are known for cute looks and funny personality which makes it very easy to bring up a Mauzer, though it can be tough to find one. Malzer puppies inherit some features from its parents like the roundish shape of its head and a stout neck that is very much like the Schnauzer parents. This breed is a friendly dog and makes one of the best pets for apartment residents.

Temperament & Personality

Miniature Schnauzer Mix puppies are the best choice for singles, seniors or families without infants. Although Mauzer is nonaggressive towards younger children, small kids might handle the puppy roughly and might hurt them. Maltese puppies are comfortable with all family members, but they tend to develop a unique relationship with one person in the family. This dog is known to follow people around the house as he just wants to be someone.

Maltese is a happy, tiny and a good watchdog that alerts the owners by barking if something is amiss. This dog becomes stubborn at times and nips periodically. It is best for those who are single and looking for a companion.

Care

Exercise

Mauzer requires heavy activity as it is an active breed. It needs mental as well as physical activity to stay fit. To exercise Mauzer, long walks in the morning or short bursts throughout the day will be adequate for the dog. Puzzled toys will keep them occupied both mentally and physically.

A trip to the dog park is also a good choice as it will help it to socialize, play and move freely with other dogs. Like other dogs, it gets bored quickly and might become destructive sometimes.

Grooming

Maltese dog will require a moderate amount of grooming. However, some owners clip the dog’s fur for easier maintenance. Brushing them twice will help to maintain a clean coat. Until the dog is exceptionally filthy, the dog should not be bathed. Excessive bathing will wash out the natural oil which keeps the layer healthy and shiny. Mauzer has dry skin and a shampoo which is designed for sensitive dogs should be used.

Brushing the dog’s teeth thrice a week will help to prevent tartar build-up and bad breath. It will also help to prevent tooth decay. Additionally, nails require clipping when they overgrow, while ears require cleaning weekly to avoid wax collection. The excessive wax collection can result in a painful ear infection.

Health Problems

Primary health problems of this dog breed are Patellar Luxation, Von Willebrand’s Disease, Reverse Sneezing, Liver Problems, Kidney Stones, Collapsed Trachea and Myotonia Congenita. Minor concerns include Hypoglycemia, Eye conditions.

Periodic Tests is the key to keep the dog healthy and fit. The test should include, DNA (Vwd), X-ray, CT Scan, MRI, etc, Blood and Urine Tests and complete Physical Examination. A regular visit to the Vet will also keep the dog fit in its increasing age.

Training

Training should need to start as soon as the baby Mauzer comes home. Teaching them how to mingle with other pets and children will help them to socialize easily with guests. Mauzer is an intelligent dog and will not need much time to learn tricks and training, mainly if the master uses simple techniques. Praises or snack treats after completing one task will make the dog happier and will use more effort to learn, to see the master content and get more treats.

Feeding

This breed suffers boredom quickly with single diet routine and they can also fall sick if their diet is irregular. Homemade dog recipes, tasty dog foods is an excellent choice to make a change from everyday routine. 1 cup of dry dog food will also keep the dog healthy and fit.
